The One and Only (2021) Review

JTBC’s “The One and Only” announced the confirmed appearance of Eunjin Ahn, Kyungnam Kim, Yewon Kang, and Park Sooyoung (Red Velvet Joy), heralding the birth of a ‘melodrama of life’.

JTBC’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘The One and Only’ (Screenwriter by Jung-Min Moon, Directed by Hyun-Jong Oh, Produced by Key East, JTBC Studio) is about three terminally ill women who met at a hospice, become entangled in an unexpected murder case and begin a miraculous journey of facing their precious ‘one person’ after fighting to take down the only bad ‘one person’ before they die. It is a human melodrama.

Writer Jung-min Moon, who proved his excellence in portraying delicate emotions with ‘The Best Divorce’, and Hyeon-jong Oh, who showed the sophisticated directing ability to capture romantic narratives in sensual images through ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo’, ‘Two Cops’, and ‘The Man’s Memory’. It is a work in which the director collaborated. Here, from Eunjin Ahn and Kyungnam Kim, who emerged as a trend in small screens with their outstanding acting skills, to Yewon Kang, a strong scene-stealer, and Park Sooyoung, who creates new characters every time with a unique sensibility, the casting has been confirmed and a complete lineup of ‘writers’ has been established.

First, Ahn Eun-jin plays Pyo In-suk, a woman who has been sentenced to a life-limited sentence. In-sook, who works as a gentleman, is a character who is insensitive to life to the extent that she does not know what emotions to choose even after being sentenced to death. She has never felt like she belonged to this world; Ahn Eun-jin, who is in the spotlight as the No. 1 rising star from the dramas ‘Strangers from Hell’ and ‘Diary of a Prosecutor’ to ‘Hospital Playlist’, met a character she had never seen before and heralded her shocking transformation.

Kim Kyung-nam plays Min-woo-cheon, a man from the bottom of his life who gets entangled in Pyo In-suk and her murder case. Woocheon works his fists at Heungshinso, which is covered with an air purifier company called ‘Narae Clean’. When I was in school, one person was sacrificed by a fist that I swung with patience, and since then, my life has been twisted and I have been living my life just like that without any reason or purpose. Kim Kyung-nam, who has created characters that remain strong in the minds of viewers for every work he appears in such as dramas ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’ and ‘Revolutionary Sisters’, is expected to play an unusual role this time as well as acting in his life.

Kang Ye-won, who announced her comeback to the small screen after three years through ‘The One and Only’, took on the role of ‘Kang Se-yeon’, a housewife. She has led an ordinary life with reasonable expectations and reasonable responsibility without being noticed by anyone, and only when she is sentenced to death, she realize the rift between her normality and stability, which she trusted and relied on. With her welcome return of actress Kang Ye-won, who has built up her diverse filmography with her character digestion power regardless of genre, she will respond to viewers who have been waiting for her with her best acting.

Lastly, Park Soo-young plays the role of ‘Sung Mi-do’, an SNS influencer who was sentenced to death at the peak of her life. Even when she finds out that her life is short, Mido, who cares about other people’s opinions the most, even looks at the doctor’s eyes and emotions. Park Soo-young, who showed her potential as an actress through her dramas ‘The Liar and His Lover’ and ‘Tempted’, is expected to unfold her charming acting with her unique character this time.

Insuk and Woocheon met at the bottom of their lives, and Seyeon and Mido, who were sentenced to death with Insook, a miraculous journey where people who had never met in their lives become entangled in an unexpected murder and face the truly precious ‘one person’ in life. this begins The production team said, “Ahn Eun-jin, Kim Kyung-nam, Kang Ye-won, and Park Soo-young have confirmed their appearances. I am sure that actors with distinct colors will meet life characters and show their acting potential properly. Real-life, real love, drawn by those who stand between life and death. Please look forward to the story.”
