Taiwan’s semiconductor industry expected to grow by a quarter in 2021

Taipei – 13.8.2021. The production value of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry is expected to grow by almost a quarter by the end of the year. That’s according to recent forecasts from the Industrial Technology Research Institute.

In the second quarter of 2021, Taiwan’s semiconductor sector exceeded forecasts with a 9% growth rate. The Industrial Technology Research Institute now expects the sector’s production value to exceed four trillion Taiwan dollars (about 120 billion euros) for the first time by the end of 2021. Compared to the previous year, this is an increase of 24.7%.

In the second quarter of this year, many of Taiwan’s semiconductor companies posted record profits. They include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), Vanguard International, MediaTek and Realtek.

According to the Industrial Technology Research Institute, companies in the integrated circuit development sector have seen the largest growth in production value, with quarterly growth of nearly 18%.
