Reflection of You (2021) Review

JTBC’s new drama “Reflection of You” showed off the main poster of the tense tension, as if the two main characters, Go Hyun-Jung and Shin Hyun-bin, were facing each other with a ‘frame’ in between.

The main poster for “Reflection of You” (Screenwriter by Yoo Bo-ra, directed by Im Hyun-Wook, produced by Celltrion Entertainment, JTBC Studio), which was released on the 9th, is about two women who lead the story, Jung Hee-Joo (Go Hyun-Jung) and Goo Hae Won (Shin Hyun-Bin). They robbed the viewer’s gaze with a figure suggesting a relationship.

In her elegant off-shoulder dress, Jung Hee-Joo stands with her frame behind Goo Hae-won, who sits with the hem of her white skirt spread wide. Hee-Joo expressing her feelings that are sure to protect her own space. On the other hand, Hae-won seems to threaten her Hee-Joo beyond her own space even though she sits outside Hee-Joo’s frame indifferently with her dry expression. There is also a subtle atmosphere in the expressions of the two people, who seem to be facing each other by the frame.

Go Hyun-Jung takes on the role of ‘Jung Hee-Joo’, the main character who is living a successful life as a painter and essayist. Hee-Joo, who had a poor youth, met a rich husband and built a perfect family, and enjoyed a peaceful and modest life, but also harbored a sense of emptiness about the past time.

Shin Hyun-bin plays the role of ‘Goo Hae-won’, another protagonist who shines brilliantly with her dreams but is terribly ruined. Goo Hae-won, a beautiful youth who made even her poverty look like a shining ornament, is a person who finds herself getting worse as time goes by after meeting with Jung Hee-Joo.

Kim Jae-young plays ‘Seo Woo-Jae’, a sculptor who went to art school and became a sculptor, who was a genius sculptor in the drama, but whose appearance is always an issue rather than talent. He is anxious because he does not have the same talent as his father, and is a character who suffers from extreme loneliness. He lives as a free spirit to hide his anxiety, but he is also a person who stimulates maternal love by always lacking something. Goo Hae-won’s senior in art school, Seo Woo-Jae raises curiosity about what kind of connection he has with Jung Hee-Joo.

Choi Won-young plays Ahn Hyeon-sung, the affectionate husband of Jung Hee-Joo. It raises curiosity about what will happen between the characters who each have complex emotions and secrets, and how the best actors will portray them.

In the teaser video, the main character Jung Hee-Joo is looking at her side, and then she slowly turns her head and stares straight ahead.

In the middle of the face of Jung Hee-Joo, who seems calm but unable to hide her strongly shaky eyes, the face of another protagonist, Goo Hae-won, with her eyes closed, overlaps, and Jung Hee-Joo tries to deny the difficult reality, saying, “It is not yet, hell.” At the same time, Jung Hee-Joo’s face, which was drawn in black and white, returns to its original color and catches her gaze with meaningful eyes as if determined and fearful.

The second teaser video begins with a frontal view of Goo Hae-won, who has her eyebrows frowned and her eyes closed. The expression of Goo Hae-won, who suddenly opened her eyes as if surprised, and Jung Hee-Joo’s expression in the first teaser crossed like a mosaic, followed by a sound like something breaking and Goo Hae-won’s like saying, “Something inside of me is definitely broken”. Goo Hae-won’s face, which was still black and white, also slowly regains its original color, but Goo Hae-won looks around her with her pitiful expression and makes her curious about her story with a relieved look.

The two teaser videos strongly contrasted the sense of crisis felt by Jung Hee-Joo of “The woman who has everything” and the emptiness of Goo Hae-won of ‘The broken woman’, stimulating curiosity about the story that the drama “Reflection of You” will unfold.
