Cliff Sims, Trump’s former intelligence official, spoke about the responsibility of Wall Street and tech companies in the economic growth of communist China, which seeks world domination, at the expense of the U.S., during an interview with Breitbart.
In his criticism on Saturday, Jan. 1, one of the companies he aimed at was Apple, which linked its future profits to China with the rules imposed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on foreign companies operating there.
According to a report by The Information, Apple recently became the best-selling smartphone in the Asian giant following a secret agreement signed between Apple CEO Tim Cook and CCP officials. It pledged to invest more than $275 billion in China over five years.
Sims emphasized during the interview that China is the main threat to the United States and that they must take it as a challenge to be addressed since “they aspire to dominate the world, technologically, militarily, economically, culturally, across the board.”
Regarding Tim Cook, the former Trump administration official noted that “He bet on China big before he was even CEO, he’s doubled down on it since being CEO.” He also mentioned that he has been silent on the human rights violations committed by the CCP against its people.
Sims said, “So this is a guy who has made quotes in the past about human rights. It’s about treating people with dignity and respect. … But you haven’t heard a peep, not a single peep out of Tim Cook and Apple about the CCP’s mass surveillance state inside of China, about the ongoing genocide of Uyghurs in Xinjiang.”
“They don’t say a word about these things. And the reason is that Tim Cook has turned Apple’s business into a hostage of China,” he added.
In this same line of accusations, a group of Republican representatives sent a letter to Apple’s CEO questioning why its products sold in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. These censor words refer to topics considered “sensitive” by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), such as “Falun Gong” (about the persecution suffered by practitioners of that discipline of the Buddha school), “Freedom of the press,” or “Human rights.”
The former Trump official also mentioned that other leading Wall Street companies and traders are being functional to the regime, all of which is heightened by the actions of the Biden administration, which focus on “economic competition” with China without being able to recognize that “the U.S.—China conflict is, at its core, an ideological struggle.”
Sims criticized Biden “for destroying leverage built by the Trump administration,” and said it would be necessary to elect leaders who recognize and understand that China under the CCP is a threat to the U.S. nation.
He expressed that Donald Trump is the only one qualified to stop such a threat. “There’s no one that I would rather have sitting in the Oval Office negotiating with Xi Jinping, negotiating with the CCP, positioning America for success, economically, technologically, militarily,” he said.
