Drama Special Season 12: TV Cinema – F20 (2021) Review

Review

TV cinema ‘F20’ is a psychological thriller that takes place when two mothers of a son with schizophrenia live in the same apartment. In particular, actors Jang Young-nam, Kim Jung-young, and Kim Kang-min have confirmed their appearances and are expected to present an excellent acting ensemble.

Ae Ran, a mother who is proud of her son, hears the shocking news that Do Hoon, her son who left the military, has developed schizophrenia. Afraid of losing her perfect daily life, Ae Ran decides to hide her son’s illness. Ae Ran’s secret life seems to be smooth but starts to change when Kyeong Hwa, the only person who knows her secret, appears, gradually turning her anxiety into madness.

Jang Young-Nam plays the role of Goo Ae-ran, the mother of Seo Do-hoon (Kim Kang-min). She said that her son, who was hospitalized for schizophrenia, also wants Hoon to return to his home and return to his normal life. I wonder how Jang Young-Nam, who boasts of her acting skills and unrivaled character digestion, will portray a fierce battle to hide a secret she does not want to be revealed.

Kim Jung-young transforms into Lee Kyung-Wha, the mother of her son Yoo-chan Son (Dong-hoon Yoo), who suffers from schizophrenia. As she moves into Koo Ae-ran’s apartment with her son, she stands at the center of her esoteric conflict, adding tension to her play. Expectations are rising for Kim Jung-young’s passionate performance, who has performed a thick line that goes beyond her softness and charisma.

Jang Young-Nam and Kim Jung-young are mothers who have a son who is schizophrenic and depict the desperate struggles to survive in an apartment that is a microcosm of Korean society. Interest is already paying attention to what kind of chemistry the two actors, who show perfect character digestibility no matter what role they take on, good or evil, will show.

On the other hand, Kim Kang-min takes on the role of Seo Do-hoon, the son of Goo Ae-ran (Jang Young-Nam), which realistically portrays the emotional lines of a schizophrenic patient. He was a proud son to his mother as a student at Seoul National University, but he says it is even more difficult because of his completely different gaze. Attention is paid to his other transformation, which has been well-received for his stable acting skills in works such as ‘Hot Stove League’ and ‘Hospital Playlist’.

As such, ‘F20’, the second work of ‘TV Cinema’, is stimulating the curiosity of prospective viewers infinitely, foretelling a high-quality one-act play at the level of a movie as well as a meeting of luxury actors.
